I'm sitting here once again wondering why I didn't receive any phone calls to sub, so I figure I'll blog for a little bit. At this point, I'm sitting here doing laundry, blogging and listening to the audio of Game 3 of the 1968 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers. Yes, I know the outcome, but its fun to listen to how games were called/announced by the great radio announcers of the time. People like Jack Buck, Ernie Harwell, Pee Wee Reese calling the action of Bob Gibson striking out 17 Tigers in game 1, Lou Brock leading off in the same batting order as the Yankee great Roger Maris. It is a fun way to listen to baseball and see how the game has changed or evolved. The announcing was simpler then, no computer/tv graphics like we see on FOX, ESPN or whatever network you watch your games on. Later I will probably watch a little Spring Training action, but that all depends on what I've got going on.
The other thing I might have to consider doing this morning to buy some time is read Tommy Lasorda's MLBlog to see what insights he'll present this time. He always has some great stories to tell and tells them wisely and simply for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age and baseball playing experience. Besides that, I might check out some of the other blogs to see what insights celebrities and people like you and me have about the great game of baseball. I should also check ESPN.com to see if my fantasy baseball team has been selected yet or not. In the meantime, I'm gonna go check my laundry. I should be back later.

First Blog of '08
Hey All! Sorry it took me so long to blog, but I'm busy with work and now coaching track that I haven't had the energy or want to blog anything. I was in a long-term sub position at my high school, and that ended yesterday, so it's nice to be done with that position but it stinks too because I'm not working today. I sat and I sat and I sat by my phone all last night and this morning waiting for my phone to ring, and it never happened. I know a couple of the reasons why, none of which are bad or against me, just a testing time in our district so teachers really aren't allowed time off.
March Madness is approaching, in fact it's already catching at Valpo. Last night was the 1st round game of the Horizon League Tournament. We pulled the game out, which I'm happy with, but I wish I could be in Valpo or Indianapolis to see those games. They should be fun. This Friday is a big game against Wright St. We'll see how we hold up against them in a real pressure game. Otherwise, I'm ready for the "dance" to get started. I need something to entertain me, although Spring Training and Track are doing enough entertaining for me.
Cubs season is almost here. Yes, its only spring training, but at least they are playing games now so I can see what prospects there are and how the regulars are holding up. The pitching looks good so far, at least from the rotation members who know they are in it, otherwise the relievers are still a sight to see. Hopefully, the roles are becoming more apparent for the bullpen guys. That was the biggest downfall for the Cubs last year, although so was the offense against the Diamondbacks in the Divisional Series.
Well, I'm off to get more coffee and see where my day goes from here. Catch all of you soon!
